RULES & GUIDELINES
How this contest works is very simple: visit the THE 20 free sound effects page (no registration required) to obtain a variety of high quality sound effects from our collection that you will use as loops, leads, samples, whatever you'd like to create a music track no longer than 1 minute, 30 seconds. You must use at at least ten of the effects above and let us know which ones you used. You are RESTRICTED to using these sound effects, meaning no other tracks may be created. If for any reason we suspect that you've included another source, we may ask for your original project file.

You may place filters on the sounds to create whatever effect you desire, but the effects MUST be recognizable-- this will be a base rule; HOWEVER, if the listener can comprehend an 'evolution' of the sound's deconstruction/distortion from its original state, we will still accept it.

While this may seem somewhat vague, remember that the point for The Hollywood Edge is to promote our sound effects library: meaning if we can't hear them, it doesn't mean much to us. Keep this in mind as you do any tweaking or distorting you will, for this will affect how we judge your entry.

Compress it to a 128kbps MP3 file and attach it as a reply to this thread. (You may also want to post it to the Your Projects for some exposure). Please note that files must be under 2 megabytes to upload to the board; that should be fine if compressed correctly, but if for some reason your file is larger, you must find another method of linking to your entry.

Maximum 1 song per entrant, and don't forget to BE CREATIVE! Entries will be judged based on creativity and the interpretation of the sound effects. Don't forget this is a musical piece- be catchy and creative! Check out a sample entry below.

PREFER VIDEO OVER AUDIO?
To ensure fairness to all creative users, we'll also accept 30 second video clips acting as a promotion for The Hollywood Edge. You may use any footage you have permission to use or create some of your own using After Effects, whatever, but you must utilize ten of the above sound effects. Aside from this forum, winner's videos will be showcased purely on the website homepage and the blog. Our logo is attached below in a high-res PSD file-- please use it.

ENTRIES ARE DUE BY JUNE 7, 2009. All winners will be notified within two weeks from that date.

Now, on to the fun part:

PRIZES
Two grand prize winners (one audio, one video) will receive the recent dynamic sound effect set by Alan Howarth, Premiere Edition 8, 9, 10 ($1,885) with over 10,000 high quality sound effects from any category you can think of. Your entries will also be showcased on the Hollywood Edge website.

The rest of the prizes will be split among the audio and video entries depending on the overall consensus of the judges..

The first, second, and third place winners winners have their choice of Alan Howarth's Premiere Edition 8, Premiere Edition 9, or Premiere Edition 10 (each $695)-- your choice, check out their product pages for more information regarding each.

The next two winners will be receiving Sound Designer Tool Kit 2 ($549), overflowing with 1600 sound effects from all sorts of places.

The final three winners win Title FX 2 ($249), which includes anything you need for creating unique title openers.
